The vision
“Celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States of America and encouraging every American to rediscover our foundation.”
America Reads the Bible is a national Scripture-reading event and movement led by Christians Engaged - a nonprofit organization committed to discipling Americans on biblical worldview and their responsibilities as citizens to pray, vote, and engage for the wellbeing of our nation.
Having the vision for this movement over two years, Bunni Pounds, the founder and president of Christians Engaged has stepped out by faith to join the Body of Christ for the purpose of encouraging people to go back to the Bible.
This initiative invites Americans from every background to return to the spiritual foundation that has shaped our country — the Word of God. Over the course of one week, leaders and everyday citizens alike will participate in a public reading of the entire Bible, bringing together voices from government, education, business, the arts, and the Church.
In honor of the 250th birthday of the United States, America Reads the Bible serves as a spiritual celebration of our nation’s founding ideals and a call to rediscover the truth that still anchors us today.
Through live readings, national broadcasts, discipleship partnerships, and local gatherings, this movement exists to remind leaders — and the nation — that lasting renewal begins with a return to God’s Word.

Transforming Leaders, Transforming a Nation
That’s why America Reads the Bible exists — to reconnect leaders and citizens with the transformative power of Scripture. In every generation, revival and renewal have been sparked not by policy or popularity, but by a return to God’s Word.
We’re asking leaders across every sphere — from government and business to education, faith, and the arts — to boldly attest to the impact the Bible has had on their lives and leadership. Their witness matters. Their example guides others.
And we’re also equipping leaders to stay rooted in the Word — because consistency matters. The data is clear: spiritual health multiplies when Bible reading becomes a regular rhythm, not a rare event.

A National Invitation
Through the America Reads the Bible week, we’re creating a visible, united moment for Americans to come back to the Bible — not as a symbol, but as daily spiritual sustenance. It’s a movement that starts with leaders and spreads to every city, every home, and every heart.
Because when the Bible is read, people are changed.
And when people are changed, nations can be healed.
